PUBLIC MEETING 19/07/17: MINUTES

Minutes of the Harcourt Progress Association Inc

General Public Meeting at Goldfields Track Café, Harcourt
7pm Wednesday 19th July, 2017

Present: Lois Denham, Donna McMahon, Neil Charter, Scott Harrington, David Ling, Robyn Miller, Sha Cordingley, Jacqueline Brodie-Hanns (minutes)

Apologies: Jill Loorham, Sue Albert, Andrew Mierisch, Karen Mierisch, Kay Francis, Helen Grainger, Graham Francis, Mek Yemis, Paul Northam, Grant Victor Gordon.

No minutes or financial reports have been circulated.

Guest speaker: Flynn Hart from Pollen Studio, landscape designers, discussing landscaping, play spaces and playground design.

Flynn is Castlemaine based and Pollen have worked on the Wesley Hill Recreation Complex development and the re-imagining of the Newstead Rotunda Park including extensive community consultation. Pollen has great passion for working with community and are interested in assisting the Harcourt community with their playground aspirations.

Suggestion to conduct a site development plan – a mini-master plan – at Stanley Park to take into account broader uses and aspirations for the site and surrounding are as well as existing features (trees, parking, water).

Flynn spoke about the budget and expense required to construct a significant playground; likely in the vicinity of $300,000.

Possible that we can engage Pollen to assist with the VicRoads round about project.

Community consultation: Online feedback, seek input and ideas and then have a community meeting.

Matters arising from last meeting:

• Pedestrian crossing petition: Sha and Jacqueline met with Marcus Goonan from MASC. In principle agreement to consolidate crossing to one location near the store but complicating factor is the installation of a bus shelter. The location of this needs to be determined first before pedestrian crossing can be finalized. Possibly a delaying tactic from MASC – need to monitor and follow up.

• Applefest launch: Next meeting will be a launch of the 2018 Applefest designed to encourage new energy and fresh faces to get involved.

• September meeting will be Economic Forum held in partnership with Council

Meeting closed 8.30pm
