Association membership

As a member-based organisation, Harcourt Progress relies upon active participation and contribution from community members.

Membership criteria

Membership of the Harcourt Progress Association Inc. is open to all residents and landowners within a 20 km radius of the Harcourt Township.

If you do not meet this basic criteria but still have a connection to Harcourt, you may still apply and have your application considered by the Association’s Steering Committee. Such a connection may include association by:

  • employment
  • recreational participation
  • family ties
  • previous residence
  • similar connections

These criteria are designed to encourage community ownership and participation.

Levels of membership

There is no joining fee for the Harcourt Progress Association Inc.

Membership without an annual subscription is deemed ‘non-financial membership’. Active participation by all members is encouraged.

An annual subscription is payable to become a ‘financial member’.
Financial members are entitled to vote and may nominate to be on the Harcourt Progress Steering Committee.

Annual subscription for financial members


Subscription fees will be considered and reviewed at the Association’s Annual General Meeting.
As of 2017, the annual subscription fee for financial members is $20, or $10 with a concession.

Subscriptions fall due on 01 July each year. Renewals or new memberships paid in any calendar year will be valid until the end of June in the next calendar year.

Subscription fees can be paid in person, via mail or by direct deposit.

Members may pay subscription fees to the treasurer in person at any of the Harcourt Progress public meetings.

Regular public meetings

Harcourt Progress conducts regular public meetings to further a variety of goals and projects.

Decision making at regular meetings is made by all financial members.

Steering committee

The Harcourt Progress Association is facilitated by a Steering Committee. Membership of the steering committee is decided by election at the Annual General Meeting, with voting open to all financial members.

Working groups and subcommittees

Members may join working groups and sub-committees and pursue specific areas of interest or initiate projects which align with the organisation’s goals.
